IU Dropped by #8 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. - The Indiana volleyball team fell to 8-11 (1-6 Big Ten) on the season after struggling against No. 8 Wisconsin in a three-game match. The Hoosiers had a challenging night against the Badgers, as IU came up short 3-0 (30-14, 30-25, 30-12).
Individually, senior outside hitter Rachel Gerling paced IU with 10 kills, while freshman setter Laura Holm recorded 29 assists.
Indiana could not get anything going in the first frame, as Wisconsin pulled ahead for a 30-14 victory to take a 1-0 lead. The Badgers posted a .435 percentage in the game to claim the lead.
In the second stanza, the Hoosiers proved much more up to the task of battling Wisconsin. At one point, Indiana held a 23-22 lead, but could not hold on as the Badgers went on an 8-2 run to win, 30-25, and jump ahead 2-0.
The Badgers then closed out the match in the third game, 30-12, to claim the 3-0 win.
Next up, IU travels to Evanston, Ill., to tangle with Northwestern tomorrow at 7 p.m.
