COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Indiana women's soccer team fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes today, 3-2, amidst a rainy evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. Senior Courtney O'Bryan scored her first goal of the season to lead the effort for the Hoosiers in the closely contested match.
"This was a tremendous game of soccer," head coach Mick Lyon said. "I could not be more proud of a group of IU women than I was today. They played their hearts out tonight and we had a lot of players step up and play great for us tonight. Sometimes you have to look beyond the results and see the effort. Despite the loss, which came at the hands of some costly errors, these girls played with heart and tremendous respect to their IU crimson jerseys."
The loss drops the Hoosiers to 5-7-1 on the season, 1-4 Big Ten. The Buckeyes improve to 5-5-2 overall and 2-3 in conference action.
The Buckeyes took the lead in the 27th minute with a goal from midfielder Lisa Collison assisted by midfielder Lara Dickenmann. Collison's goal remained the only score in the first half as the Hoosiers trailed entering the locker room, 1-0.
