Hoosiers Fall At Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Indiana University volleyball team fell to Iowa, 3-0, on Friday evening in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. With the loss, Indiana slips to 10-8 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten. Iowa is now 12-5 on the season and 1-4 in the conference.
The Hoosiers opened the match by holding the early 7-4 lead. The Hawkeyes battled back, however, and tied the score three times before taking the eventual 14-13 advantage. Iowa then went on a 5-0 run to open up a 19-13 lead and held onto that lead to take the game, 30-20.
The second game was a back and forth battle from the beginning. The Hoosiers took the lead at 19-18 on a service ace by Lauren Ditteon, but Iowa took the lead again at 23-22 on a block and held onto the advantage from there. The Hawkeyes captured the game by a score of 30-24.
In the third frame, the two teams again traded points back and forth for the opening third. However, Iowa again took the lead and kept it, this time at the 18-17 point. The Hawkeyes took the game, 30-23.
Leading the way for the Hoosiers was Erica Short with 14 kills. She also had 10 digs in the match. Ditteon and Emily Zulauf each had seven kills for Indiana as well.
The Hoosiers will be back in action next on Friday, Oct. 13 when they travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to take on Minnesota. The match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
