BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana softball team took care of Iowa in game one of a doubleheader at the IU Softball Field, run-ruling the Hawkeyes 12-4 in six innings on April 23. The Hoosiers were unstoppable at the plate, scoring three runs in the first, third and fourth innings, while polishing off the win with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Junior Rachel Terry smashed the game-ending home run in the bottom of the sixth to seal the 12-4 victory. IU out-hit Iowa 9-8 and took advantage of three Hawkeye errors
In the win, the Hoosiers improved to 24-21-1 and 6-8 in Big Ten action, while the Hawkeyes fell to 32-17 and 8-5 in league games.
The 12 runs scored by IU are the most scored by a Hoosier squad over a Big Ten opponent since 1996, when Indiana defeated Northwestern 12-1.
