ATHENS, Ohio - The No. 15 Indiana field hockey team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Ohio University on Sept. 8 at Pruitt Field. Senior forward Lydia Schrott netted the Hoosiers' game-winning goal, while junior goalkeeper Haley Exner recorded her second shutout of the season, setting the program record for the longest road win streak with four.
Schrott posted the game's only score in the 29th minute as she dribbled inside the circle, pulling Ohio goalkeeper Jessie Martin away from the cage. The Quarryville, Pa., native maneuvered around her for the score. The goal is the Schrott's seventh of the season and her third game winner. Currently, Schrott leads the Big Ten in goals (7).
For the game, Ohio out shot IU, 9-7, while the Hoosiers drew four penalty corners to OU's three. Exner notched five saves, all in the second period, in the shutout. The shutout is the San Diego, Calif., product's seventh of her career.
Additionally, the win marked IU's fourth consecutive road victory of the season, setting the program record for the longest win streak away from home. The previous record of three road wins was set in 2005.
The Hoosiers return to Ohio's Pruitt Field on Saturday, Sept. 9. Indiana will take on Radford in its first game at a neutral site. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. (ET).
