CLEMSON, S.C. - The Indiana University men's tennis team upset No. 57 Furman, 6-1, and also defeated Wofford, 6-1.
Highlighting the day was David Bubenicek's upset win at No. 1 singles against No. 110 Andy Juc of Furman, 6-2, 6-1. Thomas Richter also earned a victory playing at No. 1 singles against Wofford's Andrew Stubbs, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
"This is one of the best teams that Furman has had and we handled them very well," head coach Ken Hydinger said. "We played a physical match against Furman in the morning, and we wanted those challenges. David defeated a guy who has beat a lot of good players. In addition, we continued to look good in doubles. We have had some injuries and other things affect the team as of late that has forced some changes to the lineup, but we are fighting well regardless."
The Hoosiers won all six doubles matches of the day. Richter and Dara McLoughlin teamed up at No. 1 to lead Indiana.
Arnaud Roussel returned to action after an ankle injury in his last contest to win his two matches. McLoughlin and Mak Kendall also each earned two singles wins at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively.
The Hoosiers return to action on Saturday, March 24, against Minnesota in Bloomington.
