EAST LANSING, Mich. – Indiana was unable to keep up with the Spartans as they fell to Michigan State by a score of 9-1. Junior Haley Funk tallied her fifth goal on the season, providing the Hoosiers only score in the game.
The Spartans were led by Floor Rjipma who recorded four goals in the contest and three in the second half. Michigan State also picked up two goals from Jantine Steinmetz and two goals and two assists from Gwen Riley in the win.
Funk rebounded a shot off a penalty corner and put it home at the 47:48 mark to record Indiana’s lone goal. Funk’s fifth goal matches junior Meg O’Connell’s total for the team lead and makes her the points leader for the Hoosiers.
Indiana is back in action on Sunday, when they travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. For a showdown with Central Michigan. That contest is slated for a noon opening whistle.
