Post Game Notes
*Indiana head coach Tom Crean picked up his 200th career win in the victory over Pitt on Dec. 8. His overall record is now 200-125. Crean also pushes his career record to 6-3 against Pitt after going 5-3 during his tenure at Marquette.
*The Hoosiers improved their record to 12-8 all-time in Madison Square Garden. It was their first win at MSG since Nov. 29, 1996, an 85-69 triumph over No. 6 Duke in the Preseason NIT.
*Indiana was 25-for-34 (73.4 percent) at the free throw line, the second-most made free throws in a game this season (34 vs. Northwestern State). It is also the second time this season that Indiana has made more free throws than their opponent attempted (25 to 17).
*The Hoosiers dominated the points in the paint, 40-20, scoring 40 or more in the paint for the third time this season (50 vs. Howard, 42 vs. Ole Miss).
*Indiana tied their season low with 12 turnovers (Boston).
*IU also had a season-high 10 blocks.
*Sophomore Verdell Jones III had a season-high 20 points and tied his career-high with three blocks. It was his third career effort of 20 points or more.
*Freshman Christian Watford had 18 points, five boards and three blocks. He also made a season-high 12 of 15 from the free throw line. He is averaging 17 points in his last three games.
*Freshman Derek Elston had nine points off the bench and made four of eight shots.
*Freshman Maurice Creek had eight points in the game, the first game this season that he has failed to reach double digits. But he made up for it with a career-high eight rebounds.
*Freshman Bobby Capobianco had seven points and foru boards and played a season-high 18 minutes.
*Sophomore Tom Pritchard scored the first six points for the Hoosiers. He also had two rebounds and a steal.
*Senior Tijan Jobe had a rebound and a block and freshman Jordan Hulls saw 15 minutes of action and had an assist.
*The Hoosiers dominated the points in the paint, 40-20, scoring 40 or more in the paint for the third time this season (50 vs. Howard, 42 vs. Ole Miss).
*Senior guard Devan Dumes only scored three points in the game, but they may have been three of the most crucial points for IU. He drilled a triple late in the second half to push the Hoosiers lead to 11 points - the first time in the game that Indiana led by double digits.
*The made three-pointer by Dumes was the only one in the game for IU, extending their streak of consecutive games with a three-point field goal made to 267 games - which dates back to a March 9, 2001, Big Ten Tournament game against Wisconsin.
