BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana moved to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 at home with a 6-1 victory over the Harvard Crimson on Sunday. Indiana got straight-set victories from Jeremy Langer, Lachlan Ferguson and Maxime Armengaud as well as three-set wins from Josh MacTaggart and Santiago Gruter.
Indiana won the doubles point with wins at numbers two and three, and in singles action, IU jumped out to an early lead with first-set wins at numbers 1-5. IU moved to within one match of clinching the victory with wins from Langer and Ferguson, but then Harvard made it interesting.
Gruter fell in a second set tiebreaker as he played dead-even with Alexei Chijoff-Evans for the final two sets. MacTaggart fell 7-5 in his second set, before battling back for a 6-3 third-set victory to clinch for IU. Gruter won his three hour battle with a tiebreaker win in the third set. Armengaud won next, taking a straight-set victory.
Will Kendall dropped his first set at number six, but battled back to force a tiebreaker in the second. Any Nguyen of the Crimson pulled through for the win.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, February 26, when they visit the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. For complete coverage of all things IU tennis, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
