Beckwith, Turner Advance to Finals at NCAAs

EUGENE, Ore. - Molly Beckwith and De'Sean Turner each advanced through semifinal action on the first day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Beckwith won her heat of the 800m with the second-fastest qualifying time and Turner took second in his heat for advancement in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Beckwith finished in 2:03.90 to win her heat by 1.35 seconds. Her time was behind only Phoebe Wright's in the three-heat semifinals. She will run in the finals at 5:50 p.m. PT on Friday, June 11.
Turner finished in 8:43.44, for the fourth-best advancing time. Turner was just .36 seconds behind Louisville's Matt Hughes and just .60 seconds from the fastest qualifying mark by Princeton's Donn Cabral. Turner will run in the finals at 6 p.m. PT on Friday.
