BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team could not keep pace with Oklahoma State on Sunday at Assembly Hall, falling to the Cowgirls, 83-72. Aulani Sinclair tied her career-high with 23 points to lead the Hoosiers in the scoring column. Sasha Chaplin finished with 13 points as Danilsa Andujar achieved the second double-double of her career with a career-best 11 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
Indiana (2-5) trailed in the early going, 13-8, as Oklahoma State (4-0) had the early momentum. Sinclair hit her second 3-point field goal of the game, and after an OSU field goal, Sinclair nailed another from beyond the arc to make the deficit just one, 15-14, with 11:47 left in the first half.
Alisha Goodwin and Candyce Ussery followed with back-to back jumpers before Quaneisha McCurty hit on a layup to give IU a 20-15 advantage with 9:20 on the clock. Sinclair's hot shooting continued as the Eminence, Ind., native connected on another long-range bomb to cap an Indiana 15-2 run and give the Hoosiers a 23-15 lead with 8:56 remaining until the half.
That eight point lead would end up being Indiana's largest lead of the game. After trading points, OSU used an 8-0 run to take the lead into the halftime break, 36-31.
Oklahoma State kept the momentum to begin the second half, stretching its lead to 21 points, 57-36, with 12:42 to play. The Hoosiers did not quit as they strung together a 9-0 run capped by a Kristiana Stauere 3-point field goal with 10:25 on the clock and the deficit cut down to 12 points, 57-45.
The Cowgirls responded with consecutive 3-point field goals out of a timeout and hit on 7-of-9 from the beyond the arc in the second half to seal the victory down the stretch.
Indiana shot 14-of-14 from the free throw line, tying a school record for free throw percentage (minimum 10 attempts) for a single game. It is only the second time in program history that IU has hit 100 percent of its free throw on 10 or more attempts. Indiana hit 14-of-14 against Michigan State in 1987.
IU also hit a season-high eight 3-point field goals led by Sinclair's five, while shooting 40 percent (8-of-20) from beyond the arc.
Andujar became the fifth Hoosier this season to accomplish a double-double and it is eighth time overall that an IU player has had a double-double performance this year. Chaplin's 13 points tied her season-high for the 2011-12 campaign.
Indiana will return to the road for its next contest at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The game will begin at 7 p.m. ET.
Game Notes
• Aulani Sinclair tied her career-high with 23 points for the game, her fifth-consecutive double-figure scoring game. The junior shot 5-of-10 from 3-point range and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. It was the third time in Sinclair's career where she hit on five or more 3-point field goals in a game. Her six free throws are the most she has ever hit in a single game.
• Danilsa Andujar achieved the second double-double of her career with a career-high 11 points, and a season-high 11 rebounds. Her last double-double came in last year's Big 12/Big Ten Challenge game vs. No. 19 Nebraska on Dec. 5, 2010, when she had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
• Sasha Chaplin tied her season-high with 13 points on the afternoon. She also added eight rebounds and two steals while shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.
• Candyce Ussery set new career-highs with six assists and three rebounds for the game. The freshman also had five points and shot 2-of-4 from the field and added two steals, which ties her career-best. Ussery did not have a turnover for the entire game.
• As a team, Indiana hit a season-high eight 3-point field goals shooting 40 percent (8-of-20) from beyond the arc for the game.
