Hoosiers Finish Fifth at Big Tens

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ill. - The Indiana women's track and field team finished fifth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. They got key performances on day two of the meet from sophomore Emma Kimoto, who took fourth in the high jump with a big career best, and Faith Sherrill, who followed up a win in the shot put with fourth in the weight throw. The Hoosiers finished with 67 points, which was 1.5 points out of fourth and three points out of third place.
Kimoto cleared 1.76m (5-9.25) to tie for third and finish fourth after breakers. Kimoto moves from one of four tied for seventh in IU lore into a two-way tie for third with IU legend Margot Rogus.
Sherrill had a heave of 19.29m (63-3.5) for fourth in the weight throw. She took the win in the shot put on day one, moving her meet scoring to 15. With Monique Riddick's second-place finish in the shot, the Hoosiers scored 21 points in the throws.
Jordan Gray took fifth in the women's 600 meters. Her time of 1:32.55 won the first of the two-heats in the final and scored four points for the Hoosier cause.
Chelsea Blanchard took sixth in the mile final with a time of 4:46.93. She earned three points for IU.
Ashley Baker took seventh in the women's 800 meters, her time of 2:12.52 earned two team points. Sarah Pease rounded out the scoring on day two with an eighth-place finish in the 5,000m for a point. Pease finished in 16:41.82.
