Hoosiers, Weather Dominate Final Day of Polytan Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana track and field won 10 events on the final day of the Polytan Invitational, despite dealing with weather delays for the second-straight day of the three day meet.
A pair of former Hoosiers returned for the meet. Molly Beckwith broke her own track record with a time of 2:01.49. Olympian Aarik Wilson made his return from injury, competing for the first time since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He took the win in the triple jump, leaping 15.58m (51-1.5) to win by nearly two feet.
Kristen Crawford opened the day for the Hoosiers, winning the hammer throw, which was postponed from Friday. She launched a lifetime best of better than a meter, a bomb that traveled 55.20m (181-1). It is the second-best throw in IU history.
Aireonna Bailey posted an incredible finish in the 100m. She moved from third to first in the final five meters for the win, clocking a time of 11.93 seconds. Bailey then helped the Hoosiers to a win in the 4x400m relay. The Hoosiers won with a time of 3:40.49.
Breanne Ehrman won the 3,000m steeplechase in 10:19.10, and Erica Ridderman was second in 10:43.15. The times are the fourth- and sixth-fastest times in IU lore respectively.
Chris Vaughn won the 400m dash in 47.14 seconds, a career-best time which ranks in the top six in the Big Ten this season. The men's 800 went to De'Sean Turner in 1:50.50. Danny Stockberger took second in 1:51.71 Kind Butler won the 200 meters, clocking a time of 21.24 seconds, just .02 off his outdoor lifetime best.
Tommy Smith took the men's shot put with a career-best heave of 16.65m (54-7.5). Faith Sherrill won the women's shot put with a throw of 17.40m (57-1) and Monique Riddick finished second with a throw of 16.12m (52-10.75). Sherrill also won the discus, launching a throw of 48.05m (157-8).
Emma Kimoto won the women's high jump, clearing 1.67m (5-5.75).
