BLACKSBURG, Va. - Indiana Volleyball (1-2) won the first set but was unable to fight off the Virginia Tech Hokies in sets two, three and four, losing 3-1. Indiana won the first set 25-21 before Tech won the next three 25-18, 25-22, 25-22. Indiana played its best offensive set in the fourth, but to no avail. Senior Caitlin Cox was named to the All-Tournament team, after amassing 67 digs on the weekend.
Junior Kelci Marschall matched her season high in kills with 15. Freshman Morgan Leach continued to impress, blocking eight on the night. Whitney Granado dished out 41 assists after missing the first match of the day, and IU got great production from senior transfer Kristen Seaton, who put up seven kills and five blocks.
Indiana came out firing all cylinders to take the first set. Marschall had five kills and IU had four blocks, with Leach in on all of them. IU held Tech to just .100 hitting in the first as well, recording 19 digs. Tech's hitting only got better as the night went on, culminating in a 15-kill, .419-hitting effort in the fourth and final set.
The Hoosiers now return home to Bloomington where they will host the IU Classic on September 2 and 3. Cody Sharrett will have the live play-by-play right here at IUHoosiers.com. For complete coverage of all things IU volleyball, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
