Hoosiers Fall to MSU in Four

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (10-13, 2-9) fell to Michigan State (17-6, 5-6) in four sets (24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17). Indiana took the first set and was within two points of going up two sets, but Michigan State had a late surge in the second set and never fully relinquished control.
Indiana got 14 kills from Kelci Marschall and 12 from Jordan Haverly in the match. Whitney Granado totaled her third double-double of the season, dishing out 43 assists to go with 14 digs, both team-highs. Marschall had five blocks in the match.
Indiana reeled off six straight points after falling behind 23-18 in the first set and went on to win the frame 26-24. The Hoosiers got four kills each from Haverly and Morgan Leach in the set, while Granado had six digs and Marschall was in on all four of IU's blocks.
Indiana played to a 23-22 lead in the second set, but MSU won three straight and took the frame 25-23. Haverly had four kills in the set and added one of IU's two aces in the stanza.
IU stayed within three points of the Spartans for most of the third set and rallied to tie the score at 19-19, but MSU was able to mount a 6-1 run to close out the third 25-20. Indiana got seven kills from Marschall in the set and Granado added five digs.
The fourth set played to a 11-10 advantage for MSU when the Spartans took over, taking the win 25-17. Marschall had four kills in the set to lead the Hoosiers.
