Indiana Can't Stop Cardinal Comeback

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's tennis (14-5, 2-1 Big Ten, No. 23) lost a heartbreaker to No. 45 Louisville, four to three. Down 3-2, the Cardinals were able to win the final two matches in singles action to take the upset. The Hoosiers won the doubles point and got singles wins from Isade Juneau and Jeremy Langer at one and three.
In doubles, Juneau and Langer scored an upset, knocking off No. 64 Andrew Carter and Albert Wagner at one doubles. The Hoosier duo, ranked No. 66, knocked off the higher ranked Louisville team, 6-6. IU closed out the doubles point with an 8-4 win from Will Kendall and Stephen Vogl at number three.
In singles, Louisville got right back in it, taking first sets at two, three, four and five, and winning the first two matches to finish at four and five to take a 2-1 lead. Indiana retaliated as Juneau won 6-4, 6-3 over Carter at number one, and Langer knocked off Wagner at three (3-6, 6-1, 6-2). With IU up 3-2, Josh MacTaggart and Sebastian Stiefelmeyer were locked in a third set at number two, and Kendall and Luis Elizondo were a third set of their own at six.
MacTaggart won the tenth game of the set to tie the third at 5-5, but Stiefelmeyer was able to battle off a break point to win the next game and then take the final game as well to win by a final score of 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. With the score tied, the match at six was down to two match points for UofL, and Elizondo clinched his 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win.
