Hoosiers Come From Behind to Beat Cleveland State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (4-0) fought off a Cleveland State (4-1) set point in the fourth, reeling off three straight to close out their first match of the Indiana Invitational, 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-14, 26-24). Indiana got 20 kills from Jordan Haverly, including eight in the final set, and 14 from Kelci Marschall in the win.
Haverly totaled her third double-double of the season with 14 digs to go along with her 20 kills. Marschall hit .440 en route to her 14 kills and added a pair of blocks. Freshman Katie Gallagher had 45 assists and eight digs in the match, and freshman Amelia Anderson had a career-high eight kills. Caitlin Hansen led the Hoosiers with 14 digs.
The first set was a dog fight, with 21-17 being the largest lead for either team in the match. Tied at 22, IU outscored the Vikings 3-1 to take the set. Haverly had five kills and Marschall added four in the frame.
In the second set, Cleveland State capitalized on Indiana's troubles. The Hoosiers had 11 kills and 11 errors in the frame, hitting .000. Cleveland State hit .357 in the set, getting 13 kills.
The third saw IU storm out of the locker room and take control early. The Hoosiers hit .378 with 17 kills and only three errors. Haverly and Marschall each had four kills and three more Hoosiers had three terminations. The Hoosiers also added five blocks in the set, getting four from Sam Thrower.
In the fourth, the Vikings battled back working out to a 20-15 lead, which was when the Hoosier rally started. Indiana got to 20-20, then 22-22, and 23-23, but faced set point at 24-23. IU finally got over the hump with three-straight points for the 26-24 win. Haverly added eight kills and three digs in the set, and IU got four blocks. Hansen had four digs and a service ace in the final frame.
