Hoosiers Fall to Falcons in Four

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (4-1) couldn't get the offense rolling in a tough four-set loss to Bowling Green on Saturday. The Falcons won 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 27-25, 25-20). IU was led by Jordan Haverly's 14 kills and Caitlin Hansen's 16 digs in the match.
Haverly had 14 kills and three blocks, while freshman Amelia Anderson added 10 kills. Samantha Thrower had nine kills and nine blocks, and Morgan Leach added eight kills. Hansen had 16 digs to match her career-high.
In the first set, IU took the win, hitting a match high .250 for 12 kills. Melanie Hicks added a pair of service aces as IU won 25-22. The Hoosiers also blocked 3.5 in the set, a match high. IU finished the match with 10.5 blocks, compared to just eight for BGSU.
The second set saw the Falcons hit .300 en route to a 25-18 win. IU got four kills from Haverly in the frame, and Hicks dug out four of her eight digs in the set.
The third set was back and forth with BGSU taking a 27-25 win. Falcons standout Paige Penrod got six kills and six digs in the set. Penrod finished with a match-high 26 kills.
The fourth was controlled by BGSU, as the Falcons hit .312, behind six more kills from Penrod. BGSU libero Ashley Dunn added six of her 20 digs in the frame as well. IU got four kills each from Haverly, Leach and Anderson in the set, leading to a match-high 15 kills for IU in the frame.
