Indiana Falls in Four to No. 21 Illinois

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (8-7, 0-3) fell to No. 21 Illinois (8-5, 2-1) in four sets (25-22, 12-25, 17-25, 20-25). IU got 14 kills from Jordan Haverly and 13 from Kelci Marschall in the match.
In the first set, Indiana went back and forth with the Illini, eventually trailing 9-11. The Hoosiers went on a huge run at that point, winning eight straight points and 12 out of 14. The Hoosiers stormed out to a 21-13 lead before closing it out 25-22. IU got five kills from Haverly and four from both Marschall and Amelia Anderson. Melanie Hicks added two service aces in the set. The Hoosiers had a match-high 16 kills in the set and held Illinois to just 11.
The Illini got on track in the second, taking it 25-12. The Hoosiers only got eight kills in the set, with Haverly and Marschall each getting two.
Anderson had four kills to lead IU in a third-set that went to the Illini 25-17. Haverly added three kills and Kyndall Merritt had four digs.
The Hoosiers got back on track a bit in the fourth set, but it wasn't enough as Illinois closed it out 25-20. The Hoosiers had 15 kills, led by Marschall's six and Haverly's four.
