Indiana Cruises in Win Over Michigan State, 7-0

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 40 Indiana women's tennis team dominated in its win over Michigan State on the road on Saturday, 7-0. It was IU's second consecutive Big Ten victory.
In doubles in the No. 1 spots, Indiana's (13-5, 2-2) Carolyn Chupa and Leslie Hureau took care of business with an 8-1 triumph over MSU's (10-9, 0-4) Marina Bohrer and Catherine Parenteau. Alecia Kauss and Shannon Murdy then sealed the doubles point for IU as they took down Nicole Herzog and Michaela Silesova of Michigan State in tiebreak fashion, 9-8.
The Hoosiers kept the momentum going into singles play. In the top singles match, No. 111 Leslie Hureau captured a win over MSU's Bohrer in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. Indiana's Katie Klyczek, ranked 112th nationally and playing in the No. 2 spot, downed Parenteau, 6-4, 6-1.
In the No. 3 position, IU's Chupa went to a third set before defeating Emily Meyers, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Kauss (No. 4), Sophie Garre (No. 5) and Jithmie Jayawickrema (No. 6) rounded out Indiana's perfect day with wins in each of their singles matches.
"We still had trouble closing out both singles and doubles matches that we were leading," head coach Lin Lorin said. "On the positive side, we got to play an outdoor match and we got a win in a match we had to have."
The Hoosiers will remain in the Great Lakes State for a matchup with No. 10 Michigan on Sunday, March 31. That match will begin at 11 a.m. ET.
