Indiana Takes Down Eastern Kentucky, 7-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - No. 40 Indiana defeated Eastern Kentucky on Sunday at the IU Tennis Center, 7-0.
In doubles, Indiana's (3-0) Alecia Kauss and Shannon Murdy made quick work of EKU's (2-1) Amandine Faouzi and Marcela Jimenez in the No. 3 match, 6-0. Carolyn Chupa and Katie Klyczek then clinched the doubles point for IU with a 6-1 triumph over Melissa Gerritsen and Kristina Labeja of Eastern Kentucky.
In singles play, IU's Paula Gutierrez kicked things off with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 5 match over Jimenez. Chupa followed with a straight set win over EKU's Saioa Oscoz, 6-1, 6-2. Sophie Garre clinched the match for Indiana giving up just two games against Milena Poffo, 6-2, 6-0.
Shannon Murdy took down Carmen Rodriguez of EKU 6-1, 6-3. Kauss picked up the sixth win of the day for the Hoosiers by a 7-5, 7-5 score over Labeja. It took a match tiebreaker for Klyczek to give Indiana a clean sweep for the day as she topped Faouzi, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).
The Hoosiers will next head to Western Michigan on Friday, Jan. 31. That match will start at 1 p.m. ET.
