Hoosier Men and Women Wrap Up at Michigan Quad

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the Michigan Quad meet with identical 1-2 records Saturday morning at Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan.The IU men defeated Louisville (185.5-166.5) but fell to Michigan (242.5-110.5) and Texas (222-131). The Indiana women also topped Louisville (210-143) but came up short against Michigan (179-174) and Texas (204.5-148.5).
In a surprise to no one Brooklynn Snodgrass ran away with the 200 backstroke, clocking an NCAA provisional time of 1:53.29. Kennedy Goss was fifth in 1:57.90.
Grace Vertigans paced the women in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.02, while Anze Tavcar took second for the men with his swim of 44.21.
Goss won the women's 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.92, an NCAA provisional mark. Haley Lips also hit the NCAA provisional mark with her third-place time of 4:47.42. Jackson Miller was third in the men's race with a time of 4:28.78.
Gia Dalesandro touched the wall third in the women's 100 butterfly (54.22), with Cynthia Pammett sixth (56.13) and Olivia Barker seventh (56.37). Max Irwin led the men with a seventh-place finish (48.70).
Indiana had three top-10 finishers in the 400 IM, led by a third-place finish from Dorina Szekeres (4:19.07-NCAA B Cut). Sam Lisy was sixth (4:20.90) and Reagan Cook seventh (4:22.07). Steve Schmuhl took third in the men's race with an NCAA B time of 3:51.74.
Michael Hixon made it a sweep of the diving events, following up last night's win on the 1-meter with a winning score of 394.45 on the 3-meter. Danton Rogers was fourth (336.40). Lacey Houser was tops for the women on the 1-meter, placing fifth with a score of 268.90.
The Indiana women closed the meet with a win in the 400 free relay as Goss, Snodgrass, Lips and Vertigans posted a time of 3:20.45. The men's quartet of Tavcar, Blake Pieroni, Irwin and Ali Khalafalla took third in 2:57.00.
In postgraduate races, it was an easy victory for Cody Miller in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 52.84. Bronwyn Pasloski clocked a 1:00.81 in her 100 breast swim. James Wells took the 200 back after touching the wall in 1:42.90.
The Hoosiers return to action on October 31 as they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on the Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats.
