BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- The Indiana basketball team wrapped up exhibition play on Monday as the Hoosiers defeated University of Indianapolis, 76-63. The Hoosiers were led by junior Kevin Yogi Ferrell, who scored 19 points while dishing five assists.
The Hoosiers had four players reach double figures. Freshman Robert Johnson recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman James Blackmon Jr. and junior Hanner Mosquera-Perea each added 14 points for Indiana.
Blackmon, who scored 10 of his points in the first half, knocked in five of Indiana's first nine points of the game.
After trailing 28-20 at the 7:37 mark, the Hoosiers went on a 22-0 run to close out the first half, including three straight three-pointers to end the period. In that stretch, Ferrell scored 10 of his 11 first half points and went 4-for-5 to give Indiana a 42-28 halftime lead.
Mosquera-Perea contributed 10 of his 14 points in the second period, including 6-for-8 from the charity stripe. A pair of Mosquera-Perea free throws at the 6:50 mark began a 12-2 run by the Hoosiers to take a 73-53 lead with 3:36 remaining.
The Hoosiers shot 50 percent from the field (24-for-48), while holding the Greyhounds to just 31.3 (21-for-67) percent shooting, including 22.2 (8-for-36) percent from the three-point line. Sophomore Collin Hartman added eight points on 3-for-3 shooting, while junior Nick Zeisloft scored four points and brought in four rebounds. Freshman Max Hoetzel knocked in a pair of free throws in his Assembly Hall debut.
The Hoosiers tip off the regular season on Friday as they host Mississippi Valley State at 7 p.m.
