Anderson leads IU Past Incarnate Word, 85-49

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana won its fourth-straight game with an 85-49 triumph over Incarnate Word in Assembly Hall on Sunday. Five Hoosiers scored in double-figures led by Jenn Anderson’s career-high 21 points.
IU jumped ahead early with a 10-0 run in the game’s first 3:21 as Anderson scored seven points in that stretch to get the Hoosier offense ignited. Indiana held UIW scoreless for the game’s first 4:27 and to just one field goal for the first 8:26 to lead 14-2 early on.
The Hoosiers never relented taking a 43-15 lead into the locker room. Indiana shot 53.1 percent (17-of-32) in the opening stanza, as Tyra Buss led the way with 11 points at the break.
The second half was much of the same as the Hoosiers took advantage in the post all afternoon, outscoring the Cardinals 46-22 in points in the paint. The post trio of Anderson, Amanda Cahill and Lyndsay Leikem combined to tally 45 points and accounted for 21 of IU’s 50 rebounds.
Indiana also shared the ball well as IU had had 22 assists on its 30 made field goals in the game.
Anderson shot 8-of-11 from the field for the game and added four boards. Cahill finished with her second double-double in as many games with 12 points and 10 boards. She also had four assists and a pair of steals.
Leikem led Indiana’s bench with 12 points and seven rebounds. Buss tallied 17 points for her fourth-straight game with double-digit points. She also had four rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Freshman Jess Walter tallied double-figures for the first time in her young career. She scored 10 points, going 2-of-2 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. She led Indiana with six assists.
The Hoosiers will return to Assembly Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 26 as East Tennessee State visits Bloomington for a 2 p.m. ET tip.
