BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana women's basketball team remained perfect on the season as the Hoosiers downed East Tennessee State on Wednesday, 97-69. Once again the Hoosiers were led by a balanced offense as Indiana had five players reach double-figures, led by 21 points from Larryn Brooks.
Also hitting double-figures for Indiana was Jenn Anderson (16), Amanda Cahill (15), Tyra Buss (13) and Lyndsay Leikem. The Hoosiers have had at least four players hit double-digits in each of Indiana's five games this year.
Indiana, who never trailed in the contest, got out to an early 7-2 advantage with five quick points from Brooks and a layup by Anderson.
The Hoosiers later used a 15-2 run to extend their lead to as much as 24 points in first half. Brooks shot 4-for-4 and scored 11 points in the opening stanza to lead Indiana to a 50-28 advantage at the break.
ETSU tried to creep back into the game midway through the second half before IU held the Buccaneers without a field goal over a 6:37 stretch. The Hoosiers outscored ETSU 18-2 during that span to put the game out of reach.
The Hoosiers had 22 assists on 36 field goals, marking the fourth game this season that Indiana has recorded at least 20 assists. The last time the Hoosiers accomplished that feat was in 2007-08 when they recorded four 20-plus-assist efforts the entire season.
Brooks shot 8-of-13 from the field for the game and added six assists. Buss led the team with seven assists and four steals to go along with four rebounds.
IU post players Anderson, Cahill and Leikem were dominant all afternoon as the trio combined for 42 points and together shot 17-of-22 from the field (77.3 percent).
As a team, the Hoosiers shot their best percentage of the year (57.1 percent) and went 8-of-15 (53.3 percent) from 3-point range.
Indiana returns to Assembly Hall on Sunday, Nov. 30 as the Hoosiers host Indiana State at 2 p.m.
