
Holt Sparks Hoosiers Past Pittsburgh, 81-69

Indiana was led by a career-high 15 points from freshman forward Emmitt Holt, who came off the bench and played 19 minutes, also a career-best. Holt was one of four Hoosiers with five or more rebounds. Sophomore forward Collin Hartman led Indiana on the glass with seven boards.
Also hitting double-figures for the Hoosiers was James Blackmon Jr. (13 points), Kevin Yogi Ferrell (11) and Troy Williams (10).
Freshman Robert Johnson dished out nine assists, the highest of any Hoosier this season.
The Hoosiers used a 14-3 first half run to take a 36-23 lead at the 3:49 mark, sparked by a three-point play from Holt on a dunk and free throw.
Indiana knocked in five first-half 3-pointers, shooting 71 percent from behind the arc to take a 45-37 advantage into the locker room.
Hanner Mosquera-Perea scored six of his eight points in the opening minutes of the second half as he helped extend the Indiana lead back to double-digits (56-43) with 14:19 remaining.
Indiana opened up its largest advantage of 23 points on Ferrell's fade-away jumper with 6:42 left in the game, capping a 12-2 run for the Hoosiers to push their lead to 72-49.
Pittsburgh didn't go quietly, shrinking Indiana's lead to as little as 10 (77-67) with 1:23 left in the game, but the Panthers wouldn't get any closer as Ferrell sealed the victory with a pair of free throws and a layup.
Indiana held the visitors to 36.1 percent shooting (26-of-72), including 26.9 from 3-point range. In addition, the Hoosiers outscored Pittsburgh in the paint, 48-28 and forced the Panthers into 11 turnovers.
The Hoosiers turned the ball over just nine times, marking the third game this year in which the Hoosiers have had fewer than 10 turnovers.
Indiana returns to Assembly Hall on Saturday as the Hoosiers play host to Savannah State at 7:30 p.m.
