
Hoosiers Fall to Georgetown in OT, 91-87

NEW YORK -- The Indiana men's basketball team fell to Georgetown (8-3) on Saturday in overtime, 91-87. Led by junior Kevin Yogi Ferrell, the Hoosiers (10-3) had three players score at least 20 points in the game.
Ferrell, who scored back-to-back 3-pointers to send the game into overtime, finished with 27 points. Troy Williams knocked in a career-high 23 points and James Blackmon Jr. finished with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. Robert Johnson also hit double figures for the Hoosiers with 11 points.
After a back-and-forth start to the game, the Hoosiers used a 12-4 run sparked by a 3-pointer from Ferrell to take a 10 point lead at halftime.
The Hoosiers shot 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from downtown in the first half, including four triples from Blackmon.
The Hoyas made a run in the second half to take a 56-54 lead with 8:45 remaining in regulation. The Georgetown lead was the first since an early 10-9 advantage in the opening stanza.
With Georgetown leading 74-69 with 1:27 left on the clock, Ferrell scored eight straight Indiana points, including a 3-pointer with 12 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.
Williams scored Indiana's first five points of the overtime, but Georgetown shot 5-of-7 in the period to pull away with the victory.
In addition to his scoring contribution, Williams also pulled in a game-high eight rebounds and dished four assists in a career-best 33 minutes of action.
Saturday's game, which was featured in the Indeed Invitational at Madison Square Garden, marked the final non-conference matchup of the season. The Hoosiers open Big Ten play on Wednesday as they travel to Lincoln, Neb. to take on Nebraska at 5:30 p.m.
