No. 16 Michigan Tops the No. 48 Hoosiers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 48 Indiana Hoosiers fell to the No. 16 Michigan Wolverines 6-1 on Saturday on the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.
In doubles, Michigan (18-3, 10-0) took an early lead on Indiana (17-8, 5-5), launching the Wolverines to victory. In the No. 3 match, Michigan's Laura Ucros and Ronit Yurovsky defeated IU's Gabrielle Rubenstein and Kim Schmider, 8-1. The Wolverines then took the No. 2 match to earn the first point of the match when Sarah Lee and Amy Zhu took an 8-1 victory over Alecia Kauss and Kayla Fujimoto.
In singles, Michigan continued their winning ways when Emina Bektas defeated IU's Katie Klyczek, 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 match. That was followed by another Wolverine victory in the No. 5 match when Zhu defeated Rubenstein 6-0, 6-1.
Lee then clinched the Michigan victory when her 6-3, 6-1 victory over Indiana's Paula Gutierrez gave the Wolverines a 4-0 lead.
In the No. 2 match, Indiana's Sophie Garre went down in her first set to Yurovsky, but stayed tough in her second set before falling short 6-2, 7-5.
Indiana managed to score the first point of the day in the No. 3 match when Kauss took the overtime in the second set to clinch the match.
Schmider took Kristen Dodge to the third set, but fell short 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
Indiana will play host to Michigan State in its next match on Sunday, April 20 at 11 a.m. ET.
