EVANSTON, Ill. – The Indiana field hockey team closed out a five-game road trip with a 3-0 loss to Northwestern. The Hoosiers (7-2, 0-2 Big Ten) suffered their second straight loss after opening the season 7-0.
The Wildcats (8-3, 3-0 Big Ten) started the scoring early on Carolin Troncelliti’s seventh goal of the season off an assist by Isabel Flens. Dominique Masters added another goal for Northwestern to close out the first period.
The Hoosiers recorded five shots in the second period but were unable to find the back of the net as Indiana was shutout for the first time all season. The Wildcats recorded 16 shots for the contest, compared to Indiana’s seven.
Flens added a goal of her own in the 50th minute to cap the scoring for Northwestern.
Senior goalkeeper Maggie Olson had six saves in the contest, bringing her career total to 185.
The Hoosiers return home to host Michigan on Friday at 4 p.m.
