BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana picked up its 18th Top 25 win since 2011-12 and fourth against a ranked Ohio State squad in that span with a 69-66 victory over the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon at Assembly Hall.
The Hoosiers, led by 18 points from James Blackmon Jr. and a double-double from Troy Williams (15 points, 12 rebounds), improved to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play, competing in their first conference game at home this season.
Ohio State (13-3, 2-1 Big Ten) jumped out to an early 9-2 lead with 15:42 left in the first half, but Indiana battled back using a 24-6 run to take its largest lead of the game at 26-15. Led by eight points from Nick Zeisloft, eight different Hoosiers scored during that stretch to guide Indiana to a 32-26 halftime advantage.
The Hoosiers, who would not relinquish the lead, started the second period with a highlight-reel one-hand slam from Williams.
A bucket and free throw from Blackmon gave Indiana a 10-point advantage at 61-51 with 3:32 remaining in the game. Blackmon scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half as he shot 5-of-8 from the field in the period.
A pair of free throws by Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell trimmed the Indiana lead to one point with eight seconds remaining, however Kevin Yogi Ferrell responded by knocking in two of his own from the charity stripe with five seconds left on the clock. Ferrell finished the game with 10 points, including 7-of-8 from the free throw line. As a team, Indiana sank its final nine free throws of the game to help seal the win.
Indiana owned a 48-39 edge on the glass as four Hoosiers pulled down six or more rebounds.
On the defensive side, the Hoosiers held Ohio State to its worst 3-point shooting of the season as the Buckeyes shot 14.3 percent (3-of-21) from behind the arc. Additionally, Indiana forced the Buckeyes into their second-poorest shooting effort of the season, hitting just 34.3 percent (23-of-67) from the field.
Indiana returns to Assembly Hall on Tuesday as the Hoosiers play host to Penn State at 7 p.m. ET.
