Hoosiers Win Nine Events at ACC-Big Ten Challenge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Indiana track and field team won nine events, set numerous personal bests and had three times/marks in the top-10 in school history at the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Saturday in Louisville.
The challenge pitted Indiana and Michigan State against Louisville and Notre Dame. For the women the Big Ten teams won 89-76 and on the men's side the Big Ten was also victorious, 96-64.
Junior Brianna Johnson set a career-best in the 1,500m run. Johnson finished third in the race, behind two All-Americans, in a time of 4:22.48, the sixth fastest time in IU school history.
Junior Terry Batemon won the pole vault competition with a season-best of 5.25m (17-2.75). The mark ties for the ninth best mark in program history.
In the women's pole vault, junior Sophie Gutermuth won with a clearance of 4.20m (13-9.25).
The men's 1,500m run saw the Hoosiers sweep the top three spots with redshirt freshman Kyle Duvall taking the win in 3:45.85. Owen Skeete finished second in 3:46.40 and Josh Roche finished third in 3:46.49.
Senior Rorey Hunter won the 800m in a season-best time of 1:50.66. Cornelius Strickland was a double winner for the Hoosiers as he won the 100m dash (10.83) and came back to take the victory in the 200m dash (21.41).
In the women's 400m hurdles, Mackenzie Bollinger ran a career-best to win the race with a time of 1:00.73. Her time is the eighth fastest in school history. In the men's version of the race, Diquis Manley improved on his career-best with a time of 53.55 to finish in second-place in the race.
Freshman Paul Galas matched his season-best with a winning performance in the high jump with a clearance of 2.06m (6-9).
The Hoosiers closed the meet with a season-best to win the 4X400m relay. The team of Manley, Tre'tez Kinnaird, Nathan Pierre-Louis and Daniel Kuhn ran away from the competition with a time of 3:11.10.
Up next the Hoosiers are set to compete at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Thursday April 16 and the Illini Twilight meet in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday April 18.
