BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana brought out the brooms for the second time this season, sweeping Rutgers with a 5-4 win on Sunday at Bart Kaufman Field, improving to 21-11 and 5-6 in Big Ten action.

The Hoosiers were outhit, 11-9, but stranded 14 Scarlet Knights on base, including nine in scoring position, limiting their opponents to runs on the board in just one inning.

Eight of Rutgers' 14 left on base came in the first four frames, including four in scoring position, as Indiana built a 4-0 lead.

The Hoosiers posted three first-inning runs behind a solo home run from Casey Rodrigue and a two of RU's three errors. After Brad Hartong singled, a throwing miscue allowed Craig Dedelow to reach and Hartong to advance to third. Scott Donley grounded out as Hartong scored IU's second run and after Logan Sowers walked, Rutgers dropped a routine pop fly placing Austin Cangelosi at second and giving IU a 3-0 lead as Sowers ran home.

Hartong reached on another Rutgers' throwing error in the third inning and scored on Sowers' RBI double, putting IU in the driver's seat with a 4-0 advantage.

Rutgers tied the game in the fifth inning after starting RHP Christian Morris, who gave up six hits but didn't allow a run, departed. The Scarlet Knights used three hits, a walk and an HBP to even the score, but left the go-ahead run on third base.

The Hoosiers responded in the bottom of the fifth and never looked back. Will Nolden's RBI single put Indiana ahead, 5-4, allowing Scott Donley to score the winning run.

Evan Bell, Luke Harrison and Ryan Halstead combined to pitch the final four scoreless innings, giving up a total of just two hits and striking out four, including three from Harrison. Seventeen of the game's 20 total hits came in the first five innings.

Indiana plays a pair of mid-week games, traveling to Indiana State for a 6 p.m. ET first pitch on Tuesday, April 14, before returning home for a contest at home vs. Evansville on Wednesday, April 15, at 6:05 p.m. ET.

 With its sixth all-time sweep at Bart Kaufman Field and fifth in a Big Ten series, Indiana improved to 21-11 overall and 5-6 in conference play.

 IU is 24-6 in Big Ten games at Bart Kaufman Field and 49-11 (.817) overall since 2013.

 The Hoosiers are 5-0 all-time against Rutgers after three weekend wins.

 Indiana has limited its error total to one or less 22 times this season, including 10 consecutive contests.

 Senior OF Will Nolden led Indiana with two hits and has reached base in 10 straight games, IU's longest current streak.

 Senior IF Casey Rodrigue hit his fourth home run of the season in his first at bat and is tied for the team lead with four HRs in 2015.

 Junior LHP Kyle Hart earned his 17th career win and 10th in Big Ten play. His 10 career Big Ten wins rank eighth at Indiana.

 Junior RHP Christian Morris made his team-high eighth start of the season and allowed zero runs for the first time this season.

 Senior RHP Luke Harrison made his 78th career appearance, allowing just one hit in two innings while striking out three. Harrison has struck out at least three in seven of his 16 appearances this season, which are the most by an IU pitcher.

 Senior RHP Ryan Halstead recorded his team-best seventh save of the season and the 30th of his career, which is the most in Indiana history. Halstead's seven saves are tied for the seventh-most in a single season. He ranks first and second in that category with 11 in 2013 and nine in 2011.

SERIES NOTES
 Austin Cangelosi led IU with a .444 batting average, while Logan Sowers had a team-high five hits and eight total bases.

 In his first three career starts over the weekend, Colby Stratten was third for IU with a .400 batting average, while recording four hits, two doubles, three RBI and six total bases.
