Velasquez, Colombia Fall to USA in Round of 16

It marks the best-ever finish for Colombia in the Women's World Cup
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana women's soccer player Orianica Velasquez and her Colombian National Team saw their run at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup come to a close on Monday night with a 2-0 loss to the United States.
Velasquez was in the starting lineup for Colombia for the fourth straight match, playing as a defender on the left side for all 90 minutes. She was also credited with two shots in the match and took a couple of free kicks in the attacking third of the field for Colombia.
For Colombia, it is their best-ever finish in the World Cup, as they advanced to the round of 16.
"I think it is pleasing that everyone in the world can see how much Colombia women's football has improved," Colombia head coach Fabian Taborda said after the match. "Perhaps if the goalkeeper was not sent off the scoreline would have been different. These players have developed greatly throughout the past four years. The future is set to shine for us."
