Alrightee y'all. It's time for a little Q and A action with The Folk.
Q: How do you balance classes, practice, travel games, and volunteering? – Rose West
A: It definitely keeps us busy, that's for sure! The class part settles into a nice routine, where you know what classes you need to do your work for on what days in order to stay on top of things. The fall semester of freshman year started out very overwhelming the first week, but eventually it settled down to where we knew what we had to do when. Practice is a constant. We have the same practice time all semester, so it keeps it easy to figure out when we will have free time for schoolwork and such. Travel games usually involve us leaving the day before and flying or busing back the day of the game. If it is during the week, we try to stay on top of our schoolwork by going to study hall in a room the hotel provides for us. Volunteering is usually done in the summer months, when we are a little freer. But even if it adds stress to our time management, all of us definitely think it is worth it.
Q: How do your workouts differ now than when you were playing high school basketball? – Rodger Beard
A: The biggest difference is the intensity level. Practices are a lot more efficient. When it comes to weights and conditioning, none of us really had a set program we did with our teams in high school. Working out with Coach Tom Morris is unlike anything we have ever done. It has really prepared us not only physically, but mentally for the challenges of Big Ten play.
Q: Who is better at tennis, Amanda or Tyra? – Ken Meadows
A: The real tennis star is actually JJ. She's got a killer net game. Second place is a toss-up between Beez and TT. Both are very shifty, if you will. Their big strength is getting to every ball and keeping it in play until someone makes a mistake. Naturally, JJ has never lost to them because when it comes to tennis… She is clutch. On the real though, they both are very talented tennis players and it is impressive to watch… and JJ admires from afar.
Q: Other than blogging and basketballing, what other things do you enjoy about Bloomington? – Teri Watkins
A: The Folk loves adventures. We enjoy pulling pranks, going for drives and singing (more like squealing) our lungs out. Specific to Bloomington, we have really been on a "Z and C" kick. If you've never been… Guys. GO. It is on Kirkwood. Ya gotta get the Chicken Combo with fried rice, an egg, and the special sauce. It's a game changer. The IU outdoor pool is another one of our hot spots.
Q: How much do your fans and supporters mean to you? – Mady Morrow
A: Mady. We can't even put into words how much you guys mean to us. Playing for you guys is indescribable. The energy y'all bring into Assembly Hall is UNREAL. You guys sticking with us through thick and thin, it means the world. You guys inspire us to be better as people and players. And we mean every word of that.
Q: How can you NOT love the Shewman burger at Scotty's?!? It has everything – great burger, peanut butter, bacon, jalapenos, and a pretzel bun to make it even that much better!!! – Elaine Cahill Comer
A: MOMMA E (Amanda's mom)! We never said we don't like themmmmmm, but we just prefer other dishes from Scotty's! P.S. when are you coming back? Word on the street is B is willing to give up her bed and sleep on the couch for however long you want to stay.
Q: Who has the better jump shot: Greg or Ryan (media relations contact for IU women's basketball)? – Greg Murray (radio voice of IU women's basketball)
A: Uhhh Greg. Seeing as you asked this question, we feel as if the right answer should be you… But we are gonna have to go with Ryan. We've seen the form on away trip shootarounds and tbh (to be honest) what we really want is a good ol' game of 1 on 1.
Thanks for the Q's fam. Next blog is gonna be crazyyyyyyyy boy. We have a Jeep adventure to report (JJ got a jeep when she went home for the fourth) and whoa it is something.
Love y'all long time, til next time...
