Yee Wins ITA Summer Regional Title

Essick and Lugonjic earn doubles title.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Elliott Yee played a hard fought match against teammate junior Stefan Lugonjic in the singles final and came away with a victory in the ITA Summer Regional Circuit hosted at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts on Monday.

After winning the first set 6-2, Lugonjic came back to win set two by a 6-4 score. The match then went to a third set, 10-point tiebreak, which Yee prevailed 11-9.

Senior Chris Essick matched up against Yee in the semifinal, which Yee won, 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7). Lugonjic got to the final with a 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win over Lemar Remy from Wisconsin.

Essick and Lugonjic won the doubles title with an 8-4 win over Farrell and Quammen in the final match.

"Anytime I play one of my teammates, it is always a grind," Yee said. "I always want to give my best effort for my teammate and for the program."
