Indiana vs. Northwestern

Postgame Quotes
Indiana Head Coach Amanda Janney
Opening statement:
"I'm so proud of our team and our seniors today. This was a great game for us, because we've been playing great hockey and haven't gotten the results lately against the top-10 teams. Our team has been fighting hard and working at practice, so it's rewarding to see it all come into play today."
On scrappy play leading to opportunistic goals…
"Our defense played phenomenally, and they made so many huge saves. Noëlle made some saves where I thought the ball was going in, and she would make that dive for the save. Our defense did their job today and gave us the opportunity to get some goals. We were two-for-three on attack penalty corners, which is huge in terms of percentage for us. I'm so happy for Nora. She's one of those blue-collar, hard-working players that gets it done in the backfield. To see her rewarded with a goal is a big moment for her as a sophomore."
On seeing underclassmen stepping up in unfamiliar roles…
"It's something we practice a lot. We want to give those opportunities for others to try while training the starters to be their best. It's a good example of the team win we got today, that we had Maddie subbed out and Nora stepped in her place without us noticing a difference. It was a huge team win for us, and we had so many sparks off the bench. It really shows the depth of our team. We have so many talented players and we're really happy to get a big team win."
On players playing through injury…
"You're going to get hurt in Division-I sports sometimes, and sometimes you have to play through it. We have strong players like Taylor Pearson and Morgan fighting through injury to get back on the field because that's how much they care about this team. It's a great example of the leadership we have on this team, that these girls are willing to do anything to help us win."
On confidence from this game leading to another top-15 team, Boston College…
"It's the confidence we needed to know that we've been playing great hockey, that we have so many talented players on our team. We just didn't get the results in our other games against the top 10. We know that we're capable of a good win like this, with great defense today, it's going to carry us far, hopefully in the postseason."
Indiana Players:
Sophomore Nora Aucker
On getting a win with contributions all over the pitch…
"It was a great team win today. There were big plays from everybody. We had a different starting lineup than usual, but the roles were filled. It was a great showing from everybody and I think it proves a lot for our program."
On the defense's performance today…
"We've been at constant work on our defense, and it comes from putting into practice what we train for every day."
On scoring her first career goal for the game-winner…
"I don't really insert too often, that's usually Maddie Latino's job. But I did my role and executed what I was supposed to do. We earned three corners in the game, and it's our team goal to score on one out of every three corners, so I was doing what I had to do."
On Sunday's game against Boston College…
"You don't take any game likely. We're going to play on Sunday just like we play every day, so we're going to come out and play for a team win."
Freshman Ciara Girouard
On her recent goal-scoring form…
"It's a confidence thing. Coming in as a freshman, it's not the easiest making that adjustment to the college game, but after scoring that first goal I gained a lot of confidence."
On coach Janney's halftime message…
"We were talking about what we needed to fix and adjust in the second half. We just came out with great energy, we weren't scared of losing the game."
On scoring from opportunity…
"That seems to be the thing people are saying to me, that I was in the right place at the right time. It was a great opportunity, and it's been happening for me lately on the rebound, so it's been exciting to be able to put them in."
