Indiana Sinks Hope College, 98-65, in Exhibition Game

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 11/12-ranked Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team defeated Hope College, 98-65, in an exhibition game at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Tuesday night.
Five Hoosiers scored in double-figures, led by freshman Devonte Green, who had a game-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Sophomore Thomas Bryant had 15 points and nine rebounds for IU, while sophomore OG Anunoby totaled 16 points. Junior James Blackmon Jr. netted 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while junior Robert Johnson chipped in 13.
For the game, IU shot 58.6 percent (34-of-58) from the floor, including 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from 3-point territory. The Hoosier defense was stout, allowing Hope to shoot just 31.1 percent (23-of-74) from the field while forcing 12 turnovers.
Trailing 14-7 at the 15:43 mark in the first half, the Hoosiers reeled off a 22-7 run over the next 9:40 to take a 29-21 lead and seize control of the game.
IU closed the half on a 13-4 run over the last five minutes to take a 43-29 lead in to the halftime break on the strength of a team-high 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from Blackmon Jr.
Sophomore Juwan Morgan had five points and six rebounds for the Hoosiers in the first half, while Anunoby chipped in eight points. As a team, the Hoosiers shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field in the first 20 minutes, while holding Hope to just 25 percent (11-of-44).
After Hope cut the IU lead to 50-42 with 16:58 left in the game, Indiana responded over the next 7:23 minutes, going on a 26-13 run to put the game away.
Morgan finished the contest with seven points and a game-high 12 rebounds for the Hoosiers, while junior Josh Newkirk dished out seven assists. Freshman De'Ron Davis had six points and seven rebounds, while classmate Curtis Jones added seven points.
Indiana will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 5 when the team plays Bellarmine University in an exhibition game at 7:00 p.m. ET at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
