Hart Named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana senior left-handed pitcher Kyle Hart has been named the Big Ten's Co-Pitcher of the Week for his outing against Illinois State on Friday. Hart shares the award this week with Michigan's Oliver Jaskie.

Hart allowed three hits and no runs over six innings in a 14-1 victory over Illinois State on Friday to improve to 2-1 on the year. The senior captain struck out a career-high 10 batters while walking none and lowered his season ERA to 1.08.

Dating back to last season, in his last six starts, Hart has thrown 35.2 innings, allowing 27 hits, two earned runs while striking out 31 batters and walking just two. He has allowed just six extra-base hits in those starts, five of them doubles and one triple. Hart has 23 career wins, which ranks tied for fourth in school history with Steve Schaefer (1990-93), Eric Jaques (1986-89) and Mike Humphrey (1982-85).
