Hoosiers Swim Strong at Arena Pro Series in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Current and past members of the Indiana men's and women's swimming teams competed at the Arena Pro Swim Series at Charlotte last week (May 12-15) at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
The Hoosiers dominated the breaststroke, winning five of the six events. NCAA Champion Lilly King had a great weekend, winning both the 100 breast (1:05.73) and the 50 breast (30.35). Both of King's times pushed her to No. 2 in the world in both events. King also placed third in the 200 breast with a mark of 2:25.13.
Former Hoosier great Cody Miller (2010-14) swept all three men's breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.66, the 200 breast in 2:12.22 and the 50 breast in 27.53.
Miranda Tucker also had a nice showing in Charlotte, placing fourth in the 200 breast (2:28.66), seventh in the 200 IM (2:18.88) and eighth in the 50 breast (33.06).
Past Hoosier standout Lindsay Vrooman (2010-14) had a pair of podium finishes, placing fourth in both the 200 freestyle (1:59.65) and the 100 freestyle (4:07.51). Kennedy Goss finished eighth in the 200 back (2:18.89), while Stephanie Marchuk placed eighth in the 1,500 freestyle (17:02.95).
IU's Bob Glover placed third in the 50 backstroke (25.84) and fourth in the 100 back (55.94), while Jackson Miller finished sixth in the 800 freestyle (8:14.69) swimming unattached.
Blake Pieroni took seventh place in both the 200 free (1:49.95) and the 100 free (50.42), while Ali Khalafalla took seventh in the 50 back with a mark of 26.74.
Former IU great James Wells (2010-14) placed sixth in the 50 backstroke with a time of 26.31, while Hoosier alum Daniel Kanorr (2009-13) took eighth in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 22.80.
Zane Grothe, who is training with the Hoosiers, had four runner-up finishes this weekend – the 800 free (7:57.00), the 200 free (1:48.22), the 400 free (3:48.40) and the 1,500 free (15:13.29).
