BLOOMINGTON – The Indiana women's basketball team will take to the road to face off with NC State in the 10th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 1, 2016. Both conferences made the official announcement of this year's pairings on Wednesday.
Indiana has won four straight ACC/Big Ten Challenge games heading into 2016-17 downing Clemson (2012), Virginia Tech (2013), Boston College (2014) and Georgia Tech (2015) during that stretch. The Hoosiers are 6-3 all-time in the event. This year will be IU's first road game in the challenge since the Dec. 3, 2014 win at Boston College.
The Hoosiers will meet NC State for the fourth time in program history and for the first time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Wolfpack finished 20-11 overall last season and tied for fifth in the ACC with a 10-6 record in conference play.
"NC State is a great matchup for us in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Coach Moore has done a great job with their program," IU head coach Teri Moren said. "They return the core of their lineup from a 20 win team, so it will be a challenging game for us. This is another top level opponent that will help prepare us for Big Ten play."
IU is coming off an historical season where the Hoosiers made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2002 and won its first tournament game in 33 years. Indiana tied the program record for wins with 21 victories and finished fourth in Big Ten standings with a 12-6 mark, the school's second-most conference triumphs ever and the most since 1982-83.
The ACC/Big Ten Challenge will be contested in a two-day format on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 1. The Big Ten and ACC split last year's challenge, 7-7.
Game times, as well as broadcast coverage, will be announced at a later date. The entire lineup of the 10th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge can be found below.
