
Pierre Earns Spot at U.S. Women's Amateur

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – Elisa Pierre, who signed an National Letter of Intent in November to join the Hoosiers as a freshman for the upcoming 2016-17 season, earned a spot in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship after posting a 2-over par 73 at Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier, California, on Tuesday.
With the top seven finishers out of the field of 79 golfers at Friendly Hills earning a spot in the U.S. Amateur, Pierre's round of 73 put her in a three-way tie for fifth place, just three shots behind the medalist, Gabriella Then.
Pierre's round saw her go out in 2-over par 38 and then playing the back nine at even par to finish the day with 14 pars, one birdie and three bogeys.
The U.S. Women's Amateur will be played at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania, from Aug. 1-7. For more information on the tournament, visit usga.org.
