Indiana’s Connor Qualifies for 10m Platform Semifinal at Rio Olympics

RIO DE JANEIRO – Indiana University diver James Connor qualified for the 10m platform semifinal after a great showing in the preliminary on Friday at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
Connor placed ninth overall to earn his spot in the semifinal on Saturday morning, scoring a total of 457.05. Connor was incredibly consistent in the preliminary, with all six of his dives earning scores of 72 points or higher. The redshirt sophomore saved his best for last, scoring an 88.40 in the sixth and final round.
The Rio Games are the second for Connor, who also represented Australia in the 2012 London Olympics in the 10m platform dive, where he placed 20th overall.
The top-18 divers qualified for Saturday morning's semifinal at 10:00 a.m. ET, with the top-12 in the semi earning a spot in the event final on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET. Scores will not carry over from round to round.
