
Mistie Bass and Eddie Praley Named Graduate Assistants for #IUWBB

BLOOMINGTON – Indiana Women's Basketball head coach Teri Moren has announced the hiring of WNBA veteran Mistie Bass and Eddie Praley as graduate assistants for the program for the 2016-17 season.
"We are excited to have Mistie Bass and Eddie Praley join our program, who have both been involved with successful teams," Moren said. "Mistie has competed at the highest level, playing in two Final Fours at Duke and winning a WNBA Championship with the Phoenix Mercury. Eddie comes to us from the University of Maryland where he worked with their video and scouting. We are very fortunate to have both of them as Hoosiers."
Bass arrives after a she concludes a nine-year career in the WNBA, most recently with the Phoenix Mercury (2014-2016) where she helped them to a WNBA Championship in 2014. She also spent time with the Houston Comets (2006-08), Chicago Sky (2009-10) and Connecticut Sun (2012-13). For her career, she has played in 276 games (54 starts) and averaged 4.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and a 51.7 field goal percentage. She appeared in 19 career playoff games including eight during the Mercury's championship run in 2014.
A Duke graduate (2002-06), Bass led the Blue Devils to a pair of Final Four appearances (2003, 2006) including a runner-up finish in the 2006 National Championship game. The Janesville, Wisconsin native was a Wooden Award nominee as a senior and also helped guide Duke to a pair of ACC titles (2003, 2004) during her tenure in Durham.
"Mistie is going to be able to provide our team with championship experience and help show us what it takes to be the best," Moren said.
Bass averaged 9.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in her four-year Blue Devil career. Over the course of her collegiate career, she was a part of 127 wins which was the most in program history. She played in 142 games during her career, making 105 starts and finished as just the fifth player to ever register 1,400 points and 800 rebounds. Overall, Bass finished ranked eighth in points (1,409), eighth in made field goals (557), fifth in field goal percentage (.567), fifth in rebounds (800) and fifth in blocks (131)
In addition to her experience in the WNBA, Bass played internationally with teams in France, Turkey and Israel. She is a graduate of George S. Parker High School in Janesville, Wisconsin where she was the only player in the state to be named Player of the Year three times. She was a USA Today All-America, second team Parade All-America, second team School Sports All-America, third team Student Sports All-America, two time Wisconsin Gatorade Play of the year and first team All-State. Bass also played in the inaugural McDonald's All-American game.
Praley comes to Bloomington after a stint as a video intern with Maryland Women's Basketball in the 2015-16 season. He graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. in 2015 where he obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration from Guilford College. He was a student manager for the Quakers Women's Basketball team in 2014-15 and also has a variety of experience working summer camps at Duke, George Washington, Maryland and Virginia.
"Eddie will be a great asset helping us with technology and video preparation, along with helping our social media presence. We're excited to get someone of his level to work with our program," Moren said.
