• Indiana is 40-17 in Memorial Stadium openers with victories in 14 of its last 15 and 31 of its last 35.
• Kevin Wilson owns a 5-1 mark in his home opening weekends with five straight wins.
• IU has won nine of its last 10 regular season non-conference games, including eight consecutive, the program's longest streak since 1992-95.
• After picking off three passes in week one, the Indiana defense recovered its first two fumbles of 2016 and added interception number four on the year.
• The Hoosiers have three-or-more takeaways in four straight games for the first time since 1988 (final 3 games) and 1989 (first game).
• IU held Ball State scoreless in the first half, the first scoreless half pitched by the defense since the second half against Bowling Green on Sept. 14, 2013.
• Indiana forced its first fumble on Ball State's first possession, leading to a 30-yard Griffin Oakes field goal. The Hoosiers have scored 20 points off of six takeaways in 2016.
• Sophomore safety Jonathan Crawford recovered both fumbles, the first of his career. He is the first Hoosier with a pair of recoveries in one game since Jerimy Finch did so against Western Michigan on Sept. 12, 2009.
• Crawford finished the game with two fumble recoveries, five tackles and a half-TFL.
• Linebacker Marcus Oliver forced the first fumble of the game, the eighth of his career, which is tied for third in school history. The redshirt junior tied for a team-high eight tackles (6 solo) and recorded one TFL.
• Sophomore linebacker Tegray Scales forced the game's second fumble, the first of his career, which Crawford recovered at the Indiana 3-yard line. Scales had five tackles and 1.5 TFLs.
• True freshman husky Marcelino Ball collected the first interception of his career in the second quarter. Ball tied for the team lead in tackles with eight (all solo).
• True freshman cornerback A'Shon Riggins recorded the first sack of his career and forced his first career fumble on the play in the second quarter.
• Fifth-year senior defensive lineman Ralph Green III tallied his first sack of the year, the team's second of the game, and the fourth of his career in the third quarter. Green finished with a career-high 2.5 TFLs.
• Nick Westbrook added his first career 100-yard game with three receptions for 133 yards and his first career two-touchdown game. The sophomore hauled in a career-long 79-yard score and a 48-yard TD.
• Redshirt junior Richard Lagow was 17-of-27 passing with 266 yards and three touchdown passes. This marks his first three-touchdown game as a Hoosier.
• Junior Devine Redding finished with 110 yards on the ground on 26 carries (4.2 average). He added one reception for eight yards. Redding rushed for his nation-leading fifth consecutive 100-yard game. (Maryland 11/21/15 – 130; Purdue 11/28/15 – 144; Duke 12/26/15 – 227; FIU 9/1/16 – 135)
• Running back Mike Majette had a career-long rush of 48 yards in the second quarter. The sophomore had six carries for 57 yards.
• Fifth-year senior Mitchell Paige led the Hoosiers with six receptions. He totaled 76 yards and had two punt returns for 14 yards.
• Luke Timian hauled in his first touchdown of the season and the second of his career. The redshirt sophomore had three receptions for 25 yards.
• Oakes connected on 29-, 41- and 49-yard field goals to give him his seventh career game with three-or-more field goals. The redshirt junior is 4-of-5 on the season and 41-of-52 (78.8 percent) in his career. He is the seventh Hoosier to reach 40 career field goals. Oakes hit all three of his extra point attempts and had four touchbacks in six kickoffs.
• Fifth-year senior Dan Feeney (2nd time in 2016), Jacob Bailey and Mitchell Paige, and redshirt junior Marcus Oliver (2nd time) served as this afternoon's game captains.
• Ball State won the coin toss and elected to receive. The Hoosiers started on defense for the second time in as many weeks this season.
