Trainer Named To Fastpitch News Preseason Top 50 Pitchers List

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana softball sophomore Tara Trainer was named No. 21 in Fastpitch News' Preseason Top 50 NCAA Softball Pitchers list, the organization announced today, Of fellow pitchers in the Big Ten, Trainer's ranking is third behind Michigan's Megan Betsa and Minnesota's Sara Groenewegen.
In 2016, Trainer tossed 183 strikeouts, the 10th most in single season at Indiana and the most ever for an IU freshman. In the conference, Trainer ranked sixth in total strikeouts. The Lebanon, Ohio native threw a no-hitter in an 8-0 shutout against Evansville on March 12 and was three times named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week.
