Indiana at No. 18/19 Michigan State

• Indiana's defense held the Spartans to under 20 points for the first time since posting a shutout against MSU in 1993.
• Michigan State was IU's fourth-ranked opponent in its first seven games, a Big Ten high.
• This was the fifth time IU has met at least four top 25 foes in its opening seven contests (1950, '51, '53, '60).
• MSU was the Hoosiers 14th top 20 opponent in their last 29 ballgames, the most in the conference.
• IU held the Spartans to 185 passing yards. Over the last three games, the Hoosiers have allowed an average of 81 passing yards per game.
• Indiana has five takeaways this season and four of them are on fumbles. The Hoosiers have 24 points off of those takeaways.
• The Hoosiers held MSU to a season-low three points at halftime. It is the fewest halftime points against a Big Ten team since they held Michigan to three points on Nov. 19, 2016.
• Junior defensive back Jonathan Crawford notched his fifth career fumble recovery and his first this season. He has 13 career takeaways (8 interceptions), including two this year. Senior husky Tony Fields forced his first career fumble and recorded his fourth career takeaway (3 INTs).
• Senior linebacker Chris Covington recorded a career-high 11 tackles (6 solo) while also matching his personal-best in TFLs with two and adding a sack, giving him 3.5 for his career.
• Fifth-year senior safety Chase Dutra led the team with a career-high 14 tackles (6 solo), marking his fifth career 10-plus tackle game. Over the last two games, Dutra has 27 tackles.
• Redshirt junior linebacker Dameon Wills Jr. made a career-high seven tackles (3 solo), while adding a half-tackle for loss.
• Senior defensive lineman Greg Gooch forced his third career fumble and first since last year's Foster Farms Bowl.
• Senior linebacker Tegray Scales had eight tackles, the fourth time he has had eight or more in a game this season.
• Fifth-year senior cornerback Rashard Fant picked up a TFL, giving him 2.5 on the season, the most he's had in a single season. It was his fifth career tackle for loss.
• Senior defensive lineman Robert McCray III recorded a sack for the second time this year and now has 4.5 in his career. He finished with two TFLs.
• Fifth-year senior kicker Griffin Oakes made three field goals, giving him 63 for his career, tied for the ninth most in Big Ten history. Oakes is now 10-for-11 on the season. It is his eighth, three-plus FG game of his career and his first of the season.
• Redshirt sophomore running back Devonte Williams had 55 kick return yards, extending his career return yardage to 1,290, the seventh-most in program history.
• Redshirt sophomore punter Haydon Whitehead pinned the Spartans inside-the-20 four times (12,11,7,9) a career-high. He averaged 43.6 yards a punt, also a career-high.
• Redshirt freshman quarterback Peyton Ramsey completed 22 passes, marking the third-straight week in which he has had 20-or-more completions.
• Redshirt juniors Simmie Cobbs Jr. (53 yards) and Luke Timian (33 yards) each had a game-high seven receptions.
• True freshman wide receiver Whop Philyor had a career-long reception of 20 yards.
• Redshirt junior Wes Martin (7th-time this season), senior linebacker Tegray Scales (7th), fifth-year quarterback Richard Lagow (7th) and senior Greg Gooch (7th) served as today's game captains.
• Michigan State won the opening coin toss and deferred. The Hoosiers are 5-for-7 in coin tosses this season.
