Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill Named Preseason All-Big Ten

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Seniors Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill have been named to the 2017-18 Preseason All-Big Ten team, announced by the league on Monday.
The senior duo was both selected to the Coaches and Media Preseason teams, with Buss earning a unanimous selection on the Coaches team. The Hoosiers are also one of three teams to have two preseason honorees (Michigan, Ohio State).
Buss and Cahill were both All-Big Ten selections in 2016-17 as they combined to lead Indiana to a 23-11 overall record, a fourth-place finish in the Big Ten and a quarterfinal appearance in the WNIT. Last season, Buss, a Mt. Carmel, Ill. native, was a WBCA All-American honorable mention as she led IU with 18.2 points per game, 4.6 assists, 2.4 steals, 3.3 rebounds and shot 41.4 percent from the floor. The senior guard repeated as a first team All-Big Ten selection and was also named Academic All-Big Ten. Heading into the upcoming season, Buss is on pace to break school records in points scored, assists, steals, free throws made and free throws attempted.
Cahill returns as the Hoosiers' rebounding leader, averaging 8.9 boards per contest as a junior. She was second in scoring with 14.8 points per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and a team-high 39.3 percent from the floor. The Clyde, Ohio native was named a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-American, holding a 3.9 GPA in Elementary education and was named to the All-Big Ten second team and Academic All-Big Ten.
