Katherine Receveur Wins Big Ten Women’s Title; Men and Women Both Finish Seventh

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Redshirt junior Katherine Receveur won the Big Ten individual title and set a new 6K course record as both Indiana Cross Country took home seventh place team finishes at the Big Ten Championships on Sunday.
Receveur, who also earned All-Big Ten First Team honors, is the second IU female athlete to win the Big Ten title and first in 27 years, last by Michelle Dekkers in 1990. The Louisville, Ky. native finished with the time of 20:10.3, which is a new all-time course record on the IU Championships Cross Country 6K Course. She held the previous record of 20:14.08 that she set earlier this season at the Sam Bell Invitational on Sept. 30. Before setting the all-time record twice this season, the previous record was 20:24.70 (Emily MacLeod, Michigan State ('09).
Redshirt junior Brenna Calder was the second IU runner to cross, finishing with the time of 21:07.2. The women's team was rounded out by sophomore Grace Walther, junior Maggie Allen, junior Haley Harris, sophomore Lexa Barrott, redshirt sophomore Kelsey Harris and redshirt freshman Stacy Morozov.
The men's team was led by sophomore Ben Veatch who finished fourth overall with a time of 24:13.6 and earned the honors of First Team All-Big Ten. Redshirt sophomore Kyle Mau was the second Hoosier to cross the finish line with a time of 24:38.8 and a 17th overall finish.
The men's team was rounded out by redshirt sophomore Bryce Millar, redshirt junior Joe Murphy, redshirt junior Kyle Burks, redshirt freshman Cameron Clements, redshirt freshman Teddy Browning and redshirt freshman Marcus Ellington.
Indiana University hosted the 2017 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday morning. The Hoosier men's and women's teams both took seventh place finishes. Michigan swept the team competition with wins on the men's and women's side.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on Friday, November 10 in Terre Haute, Ind. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships. The women's race will start at 11:15 a.m. EST and the men's race will start at 12:15 p.m. EST.
