SETTING THE SCENE
• Indiana (4-6, 1-6 B1G East) welcomes Rutgers (4-6, 3-4 B1G East) for Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 18. Kickoff is set for noon EST at Memorial Stadium (52,929; FieldTurf) on BTN.
• IU will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1968 Rose Bowl team.
• Twenty-two Hoosiers will take part in Senior Day pre-game festivities.
• Saturday is the fourth meeting between Indiana and RU and the second in Bloomington (2015).
• IU earned its first victory over the Scarlet Knights, 33-27, on Nov. 5, 2016, in Piscataway.
THE COACHES
• Tom Allen made his debut as Indiana head coach at the 2016 Foster Farms Bowl. He was named IU's 29th head coach on Dec. 1, 2016. The New Castle, Ind., native joined the Hoosiers as associate head coach/defense on Jan. 15, 2016. A 2016 Broyles Award nominee, Allen engineered one of the top defensive turnarounds in the
country, as Indiana improved substantially in every major statistical category. (full bio on page 17)
• Chris Ash is 6-16 (.273) in his second season as Rutgers head coach. Ash served as the defensive coordinator at Ohio State (co-, 2014-15), Arkansas (2013) and Wisconsin (2011-12) prior to his arrival in Piscataway.
NEWS & NOTES
• Indiana is the only program in the country to face three top five opponents and one of two (West Virginia) to meet five ranked foes this season.
• The Hoosiers have taken on three top five opponents for the second time (1961) in school history.
• This is the second straight year and the 11th time in program history IU has met five ranked opponents.
• Indiana has faced 15 top 20 foes in its last 32 ballgames, the most in the conference.
• Tom Allen earned his first Big Ten victory as the Hoosiers dispatched of Illinois, 24-14, last weekend.
• The Fighting Illini's 14 points are the fewest allowed by IU in a league road win since Oct. 23, 1993, (0, at Northwestern), and the fewest allowed in any B1G victory since Oct. 17, 2009, (14, Illinois).
• Indiana collected a season-high eight sacks, tied for the most by a conference team in 2017, the third-most in program history and the most since a school-record-tying nine at Iowa on Sept 29, 2007.
• The Hoosiers limited Illinois to just 33 yards on the ground, the second time this season they have held a Big Ten foe under 50 yards (39, Penn State on Sept. 30).
• It is the fewest rushing yards allowed against a league opponent since Purdue (31) on Nov. 13, 2013.
• IU recorded three takeaways (2 INTs and 1 FR) for the second time in 2017.
• Junior defensive tackle Jacob Robinson posted career-highs with seven tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and his first career forced fumble.
