Women Finish 24th, Receveur Earns All-American Honors at NCAA Championships

Louisville, Ky. – Redshirt junior Katherine Receveur finished 20th overall as the Indiana Women's Cross Country Team finished 24th overall at the NCAA Championships on Saturday morning. On the men's side, sophomore Ben Veatch also competed in the men's 10K at at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park.
The Hoosiers took on the 6K and 10K course in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday morning where the IU women finished with a total of 563 points. IU was led by Receveur, who was the first Big Ten athlete to cross the finish line, in 20th place overall with a time of 19:56.5. Receveur's finish earned her the title of All-American for the second year in a row.
Redshirt junior Brenna Calder was the second IU runner to cross, finishing with the time of 20:50.8. Junior Maggie Allen finished with the time of 21:00.5 with sophomore Grace Walther, junior Haley Harris, redshirt sophomore Kelsey Harris and redshirt freshman Stacy Morozov closing out the field for the Hoosiers.
Sophomore Ben Veatch was the only male IU athlete that qualified for the NCAA Championships. Veatch was the fourth Big Ten athlete to cross the finish line in 87th place overall with a time of 30:33.8 on the 10K course.
Overall team winners were New Mexico women with 90 points and Northern Arizona men with 74 points. Sophomore Ednah Kurgat from New Mexico won the women's race with a final time of 19:19.6. Senior Justyn Knight from Syracuse won the men's race with a final time of 29:00.1.
This closes out the 2017-18 cross country season. The indoor track and field season will begin on Friday, Dec. 8 where Indiana University will host the Hoosier Open at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse.
